Invisalign — Orlando, FL

Straightening Teeth the Clear Way

A young woman receiving treatment with Invisalign in Orlando

Every day, we see adult patients who wish they’d had braces during childhood. At Sand Lake Dental, Dr. Maali and the rest of our staff want to turn that wish into a dream come true. Invisalign in Orlando, FL allows us to do just that. This orthodontic treatment uses clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into their proper alignment. Chances are only you and Dr. Maali will ever know that you’re wearing braces!

We understand that as an adult, you may not be in a position to wear traditional braces with highly visible and even distracting metal brackets and wires. You have a career and social life to consider. These are the elements of your life that make Invisalign a perfect choice for adults who want to straighten their teeth.

When you come to Dr. Maali for an orthodontic evaluation, he will examine your teeth and your occlusion to make sure you are a qualified candidate for Invisalign. Most patients are because Invisalign is designed to treat a wide variety of cases. If approved, we’ll then take a comprehensive series of photos, X-rays, and impressions. The Invisalign lab will use these to develop a 3D representation of your smile. Dr. Maali and Invisalign designers will work together to create a treatment plan based on this 3D image. The plan not only guides the production of your customized aligners but also allows you to see what your smile will eventually look like even before you begin treatment. This is a very reassuring step for patients, giving them the confidence to proceed with Invisalign braces.

Your Invisalign clear plastic aligners will be sent to us as a sequential series of sets—one for your upper row of teeth and one for your lower row. You’ll wear each set for approximately two weeks. Dr. Maali will want you to wear your Invisalign braces for most of the hours every day. However, you will be able to easily remove your aligners when it’s time to eat or brush and floss your teeth. With Invisalign, you can enjoy all of your favorite foods, including the ones that are not allowed with traditional braces, such as popcorn, chewy candy, and extremely hard foods. After eating, brush and floss your teeth as you normally do. This is a particular advantage that Invisalign offers over metal brackets and wires—there is much less risk of dental problems such as cavities and gum disease because your ability to brush and floss is not made more difficult by Invisalign.

As you go through treatment, Dr. Maali will want to see you periodically to check your progress. However, there won’t be any time-consuming and sometimes uncomfortable adjustments as there are with traditional braces. Most of our patients complete their orthodontic treatment with Invisalign after 10 to 12 months. Then, you’ll look in the mirror and see that the smile you always wished for has become a dream come true!

iTero Digital Impressions & Smile Preview

In order to design your Invisalign treatment so that it fits perfectly and moves your teeth efficiently, we’ll start by taking digital impressions of your bite. It only takes a few minutes to make a digital impression, so if you’d like to see firsthand what Invisalign could do for your smile, we invite you to schedule a FREE consultation today!

If you’re wondering what problems Invisalign can fix, take a look at the few examples below:

Crowded Teeth

If teeth sit too close together, you can be faced with the potential for tooth decay, cavities, gum disease, and other common dental problems. The reason these can develop is because of the inability to properly brush and floss your teeth, as they are pushed too close together. Invisalign will gently move your teeth to create the space your mouth needs for an improved aesthetic and oral health.

Gaps Between Teeth

The opposite of overcrowding, wide gaps between your teeth can also cause many of the same problems if left untreated. Instead of allowing your teeth to remain far apart, you can be treated with Invisalign and watch as they move closer together to create an even appearance that is healthier and more aesthetically pleasing.

Bite Alignment

From chronic jaw pain to excessive wear and tear on your teeth, a poorly aligned bite can wreak havoc on your oral and overall health. Whether it is an overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite, Invisalign can shift your smile in a way that allows for an even bite force and reduces stress and unnecessary pressure on areas of your jaw and teeth.

When it comes to identifying how much you will spend on Invisalign treatment, there are several factors your dentist in Orlando will consider, including:

  • The number of Invisalign trays you will need to achieve desired results
  • Whether you will need only a top or bottom tray or both
  • Whether you will require any pre-Invisalign dental work, such as tooth extraction, periodontal therapy, or a filling
  • The retainer you will wear after you have finished treatment

Depending on your dental insurance company, they may or may not cover Invisalign; however, there are alternative ways to receive the orthodontic care you need without emptying your wallet. Let a member of our team talk to you about financing options to help you stay on budget.

Invisalign Frequently Asked Questions

Are you interested in getting Invisalign in Orlando but have some questions that you’d like answered before you schedule a consultation? Below, we’ve compiled some of the most commonly asked questions that we get from our patients about Invisalign for your convenience. That way, you can make a well-informed decision on how to tackle your orthodontic issues.

How long does Invisalign take?

Invisalign treatment is customized specifically to tackle unique orthodontic issues that you face. During your initial consultation, we’ll determine how many trays it will take to shift your teeth into their ideal alignment based on a thorough examination that we’ll conduct. Typically, the more severe your issues are, such as serious bite problems or misalignment, the longer your treatment will take. However, the average patient wears their trays for anywhere from seven to 14 months.

How often do I need to wear my Invisalign aligners?

In order to effectively go through your treatment and make sure that it doesn’t take longer than what we discuss with you at your consultation, you’ll need to wear your aligners for anywhere from 20-22 hours every day. The only time you should be taking them out is to eat, drink anything besides water, or brush and floss your teeth. Otherwise, they should remain in your mouth so they can do their job.

Is Invisalign different from DIY Aligners?

Many patients wonder what exactly the difference is between DIY aligners and Invisalign. The answer is that Invisalign is administered by and overseen by trained and trusted professionals. As patients undergo mail-in aligner treatment, they don’t have anybody to contact or help them directly if something goes wrong. In addition, the aligners are made based on a mold that patients do themselves, which isn’t always accurate. This causes many people to have issues with their trays being too small, causing their gums to turn white or their teeth to move too quickly, resulting in oral health issues.

When you choose Invisalign, you can trust that every step of the process will be monitored by somebody that you can trust and who has ample experience. Your treatment will also be more accurate and likely yield better and safer results.

Does it hurt to wear Invisalign trays?

Unlike traditional braces that utilize metal brackets and wires that can damage and scrape the inside of your cheeks or lips, Invisalign trays are crafted from a smooth, clear plastic that’s custom-fitted to your unique dental structure. This greatly reduces any discomfort that our patients feel while undergoing orthodontic treatment.
