STA: Single Tooth Anesthesia
If you are afraid of needles or have a phobia and are looking for comfortable anesthesia and numbing, we use the STA (or Wand) computer controlled tip instead of the traditional syringe and shot, when requested.
This is perfect for one or 2 fillings or crowns to be done for the appointment, and in some cases, can even be used for root canals. The tip is carefully placed where the tooth and gum meet, what we call the sulcus, and the computer begins to slowly drip the anesthetic solution into the area, which then flows around the root(s) of the tooth, and effectively numbs the nerves.
In most cases, there is no colateral or undesirable numbing of the tongue or adjacent lips, so you are able to go back to work and function properly.
